Week 15

Another week, another new symptom............Headaches.

I had my first experience with what may have been a migraine this week. I'm sure that some would say that I would know for sure if it was a migraine but I hardly ever get a headache in general so to me any headache that lasts 7 hours is a migraine. I called my doctor for advice and they recommended that I drink a mountain dew. I haven't had a mountain dew in about 15 years but I have to say that it does the trick.

I also have to brag that my doctors assistant called me three days in a row to make sure that my headaches were under control. They're going to spoil me! It's so nice to finally have a doctor that is genuinely concerned about my well being.

This week the babies are the size of navel oranges. I think that I have been catching up on my weight gain these past couple of weeks. I can tell that I'm carrying more weight and my stomach is sore sometimes from stretching out to make room for those babies long legs:)

I had my first dream about the babies last night. I dreamt that we had twin girls! Also in my dream, the doctor thought it was time for the babies to come out. Then after they were out she wanted to put them back in. I said "Heck NO!" They're out, they're staying out! The good news is they were big, chunky, healthy babies. This is the first time that I've had any inclination of what the babies would be. We'll see if I'm right.....

We had a couple people come look at our house last week. One couple even came back with their parents. We hope that things will work out with them and they will want to buy the house while I'm still able to move well enough to pack up all our stuff. It would be wonderful if we could sell this house and find a new house in time to bring our babies home from the hospital. This is what I claim for us but ultimately we want to be where God wants us. And wherever that is, I know we'll be one big happy family.

"Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Phil. 4:6

Week 14/ Father's Day

I'm back to resume my regular blogging duties this week. I LOVE when Steve posts though, he really cracks me up:)

As I sit here eating my chips and salsa, I want to let everyone know that I have not had a blizzard yet! I would really like to get one before this month is over because Brownie Batter is my favorite blizzard and it's the flavor of the month. (If I'm allowed to have them then maybe every flavor of the month will become my favorite)

My most recent pregnancy realization this past week has been the heat. I generally swell a little in the heat anyway but I've never had my flip flops cut off my circulation. I'm used to being cold everywhere I go, mainly if I'm inside with air conditioning, but now I can't get enough of it. Church is usually the worst for me as far as being cold. Ironically, this past Sunday, Steve and I both got overheated during the service and we had to go sit in the lobby and watch the service on the screen in the coffee shop.

Father's day was of course a very special day for us. Steve got to stand up in church with all the fathers to be recognized. He also got his first Father's day present...

I don't have to tell you that he LOVED it!!

Along with the babies first onesies, I also made my first baby purchase. Me, mom and grandma went to Glenmary's neighborhood yard sale over the weekend and we came across a lady who had a set of twin boys and she was selling this...

(of course Elly had to sneak in the picture:)

This is a nursing pillow for twins so you can have them on there at the same time. She said she couldn't ever find one of these in the stores and that she had to order it online. Thanks to grandma's negotiating skills, I got this for a steal at $5. I'm not crazy about using used things from people I don't know, but this looked like it was brand new and it has a cover I can take off and disinfect. We saw a lot of other things like swings, and toys but I don't think I can go there yet. When I brought this home, I put it on Steve to show him how it worked (she said it was good just to hold the babies at the same time to give them bottles too) and Elly got on it and went right to sleep. I guess she still thinks that everything we bring into the house is hers. This is going to be interesting when she realizes she is going to have to share. Steve thought it worked great as a tray table so he could eat his dinner on the couch. Nice.

Week 13 w/Ultrasound Pics!!

Hello Everyone, Sara has been busy this week with work and other things so I offered to give everyone an update on her behalf. On Tuesday we had a doctors appointment and everything went well. We were able to hear the heartbeats again and were able to address some questions/concerns with the doctor. One question we had was about Sara's (future) weight gain and what the doctor thought was reasonable. The good news is Sara hasn't gained any weight since her last appointment, the bad news is the doc said it was alright for Sara to have a few Dairy Queen Blizzards a week. I thought to myself, "Holy moly, did she really just tell my pregnant wife that it was OK to eat a few Blizzards a week? Does she not realize that my wife has "Lannan" genes and apparently this gene already makes them crave ice cream, and she is approving the eating of more ice cream. Is she crazy!!!!". (Apologies if I offended any Lannan women reading this blog) Anyways the doctor said normally for a healthy twin pregnancy the mother should add about 30-35lbs. So that is what were are shooting for (hopefully just not in one week, especially with all these blizzards she prescribed).

But in all seriousness we were able to talk the doctor into letting us get an ultrasound so we can see if Sara's ovaries were still swollen. In reality we really just wanted to see our babies again. It worked!! Once again the good news is our babies have formed their little bodies and we could easily identify their head, nose, arms, and legs. Wow, it's amazing how fast they have transformed. The bad news is Sara's ovaries are still swollen and they are about the same size of the babies. So it's like Sara is carrying four babies right now, which is why she has a nice baby bump.

Here are some pictures of our babies (aka baby A and baby B).

Baby A:

Baby B:

So all in all it was a great doctors appointment. Sara is doing perfect and so are the little kiddos. What more could a husband and soon to be father ask for. I'm a lucky man!

One last thing, I'd like to say Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there (especially my Dad and Jim)

Till next time,

Steve

12 WEEKS

Finally! We've made it through the first trimester..Yay!!!

In honor of this milestone, Here are my first ever pregnant photos:

The first one is my 11 week photo that I never got around to posting...oops:)

And this is my 12 week photo:

Why do I look bigger at 11 weeks than 12? I guess black really is slimming.

This week the babies are the size of plums. They have doubled their size in just a few weeks. The biggest change that I can tell from this past week is that my morning sickness is dwindling but I find myself getting nauseous throughout the day. I get headaches constantly which are a big challenge for me since I could count on one hand the number of headaches I usually get in a year. I think a lot of that is due to not keeping food on my stomach. I've been packing a cooler everyday to carry with me that has enough snacks to last me until I get home from work. I hardly ever come home with anything left (oink, oink). I think that will help with the headaches. I also have been having the craziest dreams. I have dreams that I can remember almost every night but these have been so far out in left field and so vivid. It's been interesting...

I'm looking forward to my doctors appointment next week. I'm not sure what the agenda is but I hope we will get another ultrasound so we can see what's going on in there. At my last appointment, my doctor wanted to monitor the swelling of my ovaries so I'm also interested to know if they have gone back to normal or if some of my size is still because they are swollen. I feel like I'm still bigger than I should be, even for carrying twins and for being 3 months. I haven't even gained 10 pounds this whole time so I think there would still have to be swelling.

Although we are not actively thinking of baby names at this point, Steve did buy me a baby name book for my birthday. We look at it every once in a while and get a good laugh. I just want everyone to know that the name "Studs" is up for grabs as we will not be using this name (yes, that really is in the book). I guess there probably wouldn't be another "Studs" in their class when they start school...hmmm....still no.

11 Weeks

11 weeks today:)

No big changes to report. I still have morning sickness although it has been sneaking into later parts of my day. I thought it was supposed to be getting better now, not worse? I can sleep on any of my sides now which is an improvement from a couple weeks ago.

We put our house up for sale last week so we've been trying to do some things here and there to prepare for showings. We've been moving a little slow on that since when the weekend finally gets here, all I want to do is rest. We had prepared the house for the most part about a year ago when we had it up for sale the first time so fortunately, there's not a whole lot to do.

Let us know if you know of anyone looking for a house....

I just measured my belly and it looks like I'm picking up inches now so "so long" to my shrinking belly...the babies have taken over!
